The American Red Cross announced an initial contribution of $10 million to the Japanese Red Cross Society to help provide medical care and relief to the people of Japan.

At a time when the Japanese Red Cross is providing medical assistance, blankets, and other humanitarian care to tens of thousands of Japanese who have been devastated by earthquakes, a tsunami, and evacuations occasioned by nuclear power crises, the Japanese Red Cross is extremely appreciative for the financial assistance being provided by the American people and the American Red Cross.

40 year old Christian Dion Stanford of Sugar Mill Lane in Albertville has been reported missing.

According to the report, Stanford was last contacted by family members on March 10th around 4:30am.  There has only been contact with a family friend in Pensacola, Florida since that time.  It's believed that he has left the state of Florida since the last contact. Stanford is described as 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighs about 275 pounds. Stanford has hazel eyes and brown hair with a medium complexion.

Owning a dog may do your heart good, literally. New research shows that people who own dogs are about 34 percent more likely to get the recommended minimum amount of exercise each week, thanks to their furry friends.

"Dogs can be a great motivator for physical activity. People who walk their dogs, walk more. They walk about an hour longer each week," said study author Mathew Reeves, an associate professor of epidemiology at the Michigan State University in East Lansing.
