Arrest made after chase and wreck with police

31 year old William Payne was arrested Wednesday after police say he led them on a vehicle pursuit. An officer says he stopped the driver of a 1997 Honda Civic that Payne was driving for a minor traffic violation on Highway 205.

The officer says he was checking the status of Payne's drivers license, when he left the scene at a high rate of speed.

Travel safety and tips

Alabama Department of Homeland Security encourages Alabama citizens to travel safely and efficiently this time of year. With the hectic pace of holiday travel it is easy to forget simple tips that will make your airport and highway travel experience easier.

“Every year air travelers with wrapped gifts and homemade foods increase wait times at airport checkpoints,” said Alabama Homeland Security Director Art Faulkner. “This becomes frustrating for all travelers because it slows down the security process.”
