WEATHER BLOG: A great start to the work week

A rain cooled boundary moved in early this afternoon from a cluster of showers and thunderstorms that formed along the Gulf Coast late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.  This area of rain is finally tracking east of the Tennessee Valley.

The mass of showers and thunderstorms ended up tracking much closer to North Alabama and southern Tennessee.  This resulted in temperatures only in the lower to middle 60s for much of the afternoon.

Missing Albertville teen found safe overnight

ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF)- A missing teenage girl from Albertville was found safe overnight Friday.

Authorities said Kaeona Janae Booker, 14, was reported missing on Thursday, April 11.

Kaeona was last seen between 1 and 6 a.m. Thursday, wearing an orange short sleeve shirt and black jeans.

Damage reported from storms in AL

Tree fell on house on Valley View Drive in Huntsville.

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Damage was reported in several areas as a line of strong storms moved through North Alabama.

Power lines were knocked down at Whitesburg Drive and Lily Flagg in Huntsville Thursday afternoon. The lines fell on top of a car at the intersection and the driver was trapped inside. Huntsville Utilities workers helped her get out of the car.

A tree fell on a house on Valley View drive near Dell in Huntsville, causing heavy damage. The National Weather Service said they will visit the area Friday to survey the damage.

Power lines and a tree were down across Dug Hill Road in Madison County. Traffic was blocked for a short time while crews worked to clear the damage.

Flooding was reported in Hartselle, Athens, and parts of Madison as heavy rain moved through the area.

Attorney for alleged 'Ball Cap Bandit' off the case

FLORENCE, AL (WAFF)- The attorney representing the so-called Ball Cap Bandit filed a motion requesting to withdraw from the case.

According to the document, Tim Case has already "been terminated as the attorney of record for Cedrick Hicks". 

A representative at Case's law firm would not say if that meant Hicks chose to terminate Case.

Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested Hicks in Decatur in March. He's being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $350,000 bond.

Hicks is accused of robbing banks in Huntsville, Hamilton, Cullman, Albertville, Guntersville, Priceville, Rogersville,and Pulaski. A Lauderdale County grand jury indicted him for the hold up at a bank in Rogersville.

Main Street Music Festival returns to Albertville

The annual Main Street Music Festival is coming to Albertville this summer.

And 80s rock sensation Nightranger is co-headlining with 90s country sensations Lonestar.

The festival is set for August 9th and 10th in downtown Albertville.

City leaders made the announcement Wednesday morning outside City Hall.

This is the fourth year for the annual downtown music festival, and organizers are thrilled with the lineup.

They said it is shaping up to be a wonderful, fun weekend.

Woman pleads guilty to stabbing man

MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF)-

A woman accused of
stabbing a man in Marshall County pleaded guilty to assault.

Alegra Starks entered her
plea in a Marshall County courtroom Tuesday. Stark is accused of stabbing Benjamin Rice at a home on Martling Road in Asbury in 2011.

Authorities said it
happened while she was trying to serve him divorce papers.

Sentencing for Starks is set for June
4th.
