Boaz gets new energy efficient street lights
Boaz city officials flipped the switch on their new energy efficient street lights Thursday.
The new solar powered LED street lights are along US Highway 431.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs gave the city more than $220,000 to replace 36 aging lights.
The new lights are expected to save up to $7,000 each year in energy costs.
