Marshall County offers check amnesty for February | Crime
The Marshall County district attorney's office is giving away a get out of jail free card for those who owe money for restitution or bad checks. The catch is it's for one month only.
Hundreds of files exist for bad checks and people who owe restitution to the victims of Marshall County.
Officials say they're giving people who owe money a chance to come in during the month of February to take care of their debts and not be arrested, even if they currently have an arrest warrant.
“You know we have victims out there who are owed the money, and this effort, the amnesty period as well as the roundup, is an effort to try to get those victims their money as quickly as possible,” said assistant DA, Chris Able.
Able said those people who choose not to pay in February could face being arrested in March.
