Hearing date set for woman charged in grandson's death | Crime

The woman accused of hitting and killing her grandson in Albertville will appear before a judge December 17.

Investigators say Rebecca Jane Elrod was under the influence of prescription medication when she ran over 2-year-old Brayden Lucas Daniel.

Police arrested Elrod for driving under the influence. She was taken to a hospital where blood was drawn under a court order.

A background check revealed Elrod had three other arrests for DUI. All three times, the charges were dropped.

Elrod is charged with criminally negligent homicide. She is out of jail on a $2,500 bond.
