Two arrested for trying to pawn stolen tools

Gadsden, AL (WAFF) - Two people from Boaz are facing charges in Etowah County tonight.

According to Sheriff Todd Entrekin, 28 year old Joe Morris and 33 year old Melissa Jones are charged with receiving stolen property. Investigators say they were called to a local pawn shop earlier this month to check out some stolen items. The store owner told deputies about a suspicious man who tried to sell him tools the day before. The owner refused to buy the items, and made a note that the man was staying at a nearby motel.

The two were arrested at the motel, and reportedly admitted stealing the tools from a home in Marshall County.

Morris is being held in the Etowah County Jail on $5,000 bond, Jones was released on the same amount.
