Boaz woman arrested on gambling charges | Crime
Boaz, AL (WAFF) - A woman from Boaz is free on $1,000 bond after being arrested and charged with possession of gambling devices on Wednesday.
According to Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin, two electronic gambling devices were taken from the Jet Pep convenience store on Highway 431 in Carlisle. The machines were played by an undercover investigator who says it awarded credits that could be used to buy items in the store. The unused credits were turned in for cash. 33 year old Cecila Ann Slaten was taken into custody following the undercover operation.
"As a 30 year law enforcement officer in Etowah County, we've always arrested and prosecuted anyone who brings illegal electronic machines into the county." said Sheriff Entrekin. "And until those laws are changed, we will continue to do so," added Sheriff Entrekin.
