Albertville Chamber of Commerce is hosting a 5k and 1 mile fun run to celebrate mothers of all ages on Saturday, May 4 at 8 a.m.

High schoolers to compete in "Scholars Bowl

Huntsville, AL (WAFF) - UAHuntsville is hosting the 2013 Alabama Scholastic Competition Association District High School Scholars Bowl this weekend.

The competition begins at 8 a.m., in the Chan Auditorium of the Business Administration Building. More than 10 high school teams composed of ninth through 12th grade students from North Alabama have signed up to compete in the scholastic competition.

The ASCA Bowl is designed to be a Jeopardy-like game with five rounds, challenging the students to buzz in and answer questions on various subjects like math, geography, culture, history, arts and science.

The Bowl game begins Friday at 8:00 a.m. At the Chan Auditorium.

Cookies with Santa Saturday in Albertville

Saturday, December 8, Santa will make a stop in Albert ville.

Saint Nick's arrival will be at 9:00 a.m. at the Albert ville Depot.

Cookies will be served and children can register for door prizes.

Santa will also listen to Christmas lists.

Parents can get a photo of their children with Santa. Packages coast $10 and include one 5X7 and four wallets. Pictures will be taken from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Parents can snap their own photos from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
