Albertville plants adding up to 200 jobs

A major economic announcement Monday in Albertville.

Mayor Lindsey Lyons was joined by Colormasters General Manager Ben Fryer as the company announced a new blown film extrusion plant will be built in the city. The plant will supply Colormaster's existing plastic packaging plant which employs about 200 people.

In addition to the film extrusion facility, a second packaging plant will be built on Medlock Road. The plans could mean that Colormasters may go from 200 employees.. to 400.

Albertville Mayor Lindsey Lyons tells WAFF 48 News that today's announcement is just good news all around. "It's going to elevate their quality of life to be able to allow them to provide for their families which they can't currently do" Lyons told Stephen McLamb. "And that's what means a lot to me when you have companies like colormasters stepping up and creating these jobs."

Colormasters GM Ben Fryer says hiring for the new positions will begin soon. "We will start to be hiring here around November for this blown film plant.  We will be in operation by the first of the year.  At our other plant across town we are just now putting in equipment .  We should be hiring here in the next few weeks."
