A man from Albertville is free on bond after being arrested and charged with shooting at a newspaper delivery woman over the weekend.
The incident happened around 5:00 a.m. Sunday on Byron Moman Road in Albertville. According to Sheriff Scott Walls, the delivery woman was startled when a man jumped in front of her car while she was driving her route. The woman swerved to avoid the man and heard a gunshot as she drove away.
The woman found a safe spot to pull over, and inspected her car. She soon found what police say was damage caused by a shotgun blast.
A few hours later, Marshall County Deputies placed 54 year old Jeffrey Dwayne Bonds under arrest in connection with the incident. He's been charged with Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle and was freed on $3,000 bond later that day.
According to Sheriff Walls, Bonds admitted to the incident, but says it was an honest mistake. Walls says Bonds believed the delivery woman was someone else, damaging his mailbox. Bonds reportedly told deputies he shot the car so he could identify it later.
