BOAZ, AL (WAFF)- A shoplifting case turned to robbery in Marshall County after the thieves used pepper spray on a store employee.
It happened Thursday afternoon in the city of Boaz.
Police need the public's help in solving the case. They hope surveillance video will help identify the suspects.
It happened just after 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Polo Factory Outlet Store in the Village at Elizabeth Street.
Boaz Police said three black females and a black male entered the store and then made their way out with just over $1700 in clothing.
While making their way out, Police Chief Terry Davis said they pushed an employee and then sprayed her in the face with pepper spray.
Davis said because force and pepper spray were used, it's now being considered a robbery.
The suspects then got into a vehicle and left.
