Local volunteers respond to Hurricane Sandy

Five volunteers from North Alabama left over the weekend to help those impacted by Hurricane Sandy. The volunteers are working with the American Red Cross.

The volunteers are from Marshall County, Madison County, and Morgan County. The Red Cross is also sending an emergency vehicle from Florence.

The Alabama Region is sending a total of eight Emergency Response Vehicles and 16 volunteers.

People in the path of Hurricane Sandy are encouraged to register on the Red Cross Safe and Well website. You can also call 1-800-RED-CROSS to register.

You can help with the response by donating to the Red Cross or by giving blood.
