Rebecca Elrod is accused of running over her grandson while under the influence of prescription medication

ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF)- The grandmother accused of hitting and killing her grandson will appear before a judge in January.

Rebecca Elrod is charged with criminally negligent homicide.

She's accused of hitting 2-year-old Brayden Lucas Daniel with a car in October.

It happened at a home on Diane Avenue in Albertville. Investigators say Elrod was under the influence of prescription medication while driving.
