Boaz Police confiscate 75 pounds of marijuana | News
BOAZ, AL (WAFF)- Authorities seized 75 pounds of pot in Boaz.
When police got the call of a possible burglary or some suspicious activity, it seemed routine.
Police responded to a possible burglary or suspicious activity call at 604 Idlewild Street around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
After receiving consent to search the home, officers located 75 pounds worth of marijuana in a duffle bag in a bedroom of the home, and they also discovered $2400 in cash.
Chief Terry Davis said a 19-year-old female from Boaz, along with two men in their mid-20's from Texas, were taken into custody.
Davis believes the pot was hidden in a spare tire to be transported to the area.
With an estimated street value up to $150,000, Davis said it's certainly the biggest find in more than two decades there in Boaz.
"I can remember two seizures that got close to this one. We got 66 pounds one time. We got 72 pounds the next. This is 75 so this is the biggest seizure in the 20 years that I've been here inside the city limits," he said.
Davis said all three are facing drug trafficking charges and are being held without bonds as they obtain warrants.
He said names will be released later, and the investigation is ongoing.
